1. Rapid or difficult breathing
2. Cough
3. Fever
4. Chills
5. Headaches
6. Loss of appetite

Can complications be serious and potentially life-threatening?

Complications of pneumococcal pneumonia include: 2

  • Empyema
  • Pericarditis
  • Endobronchial obstruction with atelectasis
  • Lung abscess formation
