Atualmente a imunização materna com dTpa é considerada a melhor estratégia para ajudar a proteger recém-nascidos da coqueluche2,5

As estratégias de vacinação contra a coqueluche evoluíram visando diferentes populações, tais como o reforço em adolescentes, e as estratégias cocoon e imunização materna, com o objetivo de melhorar o controle da doença e reduzir o risco de complicações em recém-nascidos, até que estes completem seu esquema primário de vacinação.2-4

Mais de 30 países ao redor do mundo recomendam a imunização materna contra a coqueluche.1,5-19

A imunização materna é caracterizada pela transferência de anticorpos da mãe para o bebê, através da placenta.1,2

 

A recomendação da imunização materna contra a coqueluche existe em mais de 30 países20-35

  • Organizações como CDC e PHE (Public Health England) recomendam a vacinação em gestantes com dTpa, para ajudar a proteger recém-nascidos contra a coqueluche.23,24
  • A OMS recomenda a imunização materna em países ou cenários com alta ou crescente morbidade/mortalidade infantil por coqueluche.25

Verifique as diretrizes locais, pois as recomendações sobre o momendo ideal para a vacinação podem diferir entre os países.
