Vaccination strategies have evolved targeting different populations, such as adolescent booster, cocooning and Maternal Immunization with the intention to control pertussis outbreaks and reduce the burden of disease in infants too young to have started their primary vaccination series with DTaP 2-4
To protect vulnerable infants, health authorities in more than 30 countries recommend vaccination programs against pertussis during pregnancy 1 5-19
Maternal Immunization mimics the natural protection offered by mothers to the baby 1 2
Tdap: tetanus toxoid, reduced diphtheria toxoid, and acellular pertussis vaccine.
